The Church Video Licence is NOW AVAILABLE in Australia & New Zealand!
A Remarkable Solution for Using Movies In Churches.
Using video is one of the fastest trends among church leaders. Showing portions of movies can be a powerful aid to enhance sermon points, train leadership, and provide teaching illustrations. Many churches also show full-length features in crèche, children & student ministries and for special event movie nights.
Video and the Copyright Law
Here is a crucial fact to consider. Under the Australian Copyright Law of 1968, nearly all video tapes and DVDs available for purchase or rent are only authorised for home use. Therefore, unless specific permission has been granted, viewing these videos outside the home is a violation of the law and can result in substantial fines. This is also true for churches and non-profit groups, even if admission is not charged or the video was purchased.
The Solution
In response to many church inquiries Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) and Motion Picture Licensing Corporation (MPLC) have partnered to create Christian Video Licensing International (CVLI) and the Church Video Licence, which offers an umbrella licence to cover a large number of movie titles from over 60 producers. You can find a complete list of participating producers and the licence terms on the website at http://www.cvli.com.au/
