The CVL is a great tool for evangelism outreach events held on a licensed church premises, such as a youth group movie night. Under the terms of the licence you may announce to your congregation members you are having a "Movie Night" and verbally let your congregation know what movie will be shown, but you cannot advertise the specific movie to the general public in handbills, posters, sandwich boards in front of the church or otherwise.
The CVL licence is intended to enable churches to show movies to entertain their congregations without having to seek individual permissions. It is not intended for churches to use this licence to incorporate public performance of motion pictures for public outside of their members, such as an advertised movie night would be. This does not limit the effectiveness of an evangelistic outreach movie night, as a church can still advise it’s members what movie will be shown, and the members can communicate that information to members of the public that are interested in attending.
